Why the Maitland Art Center is Perfect for Intimate Weddings

At the Maitland Art Center, there are so many ways to structure an elopement or intimate wedding without ever leaving the property. The tucked-away courtyards and stone archways make perfect spots for a private first look, especially with how the light moves through the textured walls. For portraits, you can move through the sculpture gardens, shaded walkways, and dramatic architectural backdrops. Each corner feels different, which gives your gallery a lot of variety in a short amount of time. Ceremonies work beautifully in the open courtyard spaces, surrounded by historic details, and for a small reception or dinner, the indoor gallery areas offer an intimate setting that still feels connected to the art and character of the venue. It’s all compact, walkable, and easy to flow from one part of the day to the next.

The Maitland Art Center is located at: 231 W Packwood Ave, Maitland, FL 32751. It sits just minutes from Winter Park and about 20 minutes from downtown Orlando, making it easily accessible for guests coming from anywhere in Central Florida. The property feels secluded, but it’s right near major roads like I-4 and 17-92. The center is usually open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm. However, the courtyard can often be accessed as early as 9am for portraits or a first look before your ceremony.

From a photography perspective, and based on my style, this is an ideal place to have an intimate wedding or elopement. It’s quiet, private, and the lighting conditions are just right thanks to the architecture and surrounding greenery. The textured walls, archways, and natural shade create soft, flattering light throughout most of the day.

I photographed Monica and Josiah’s elopement here, where we were able to do a first look in the courtyard, hold the ceremony just steps away, and transition into portraits without ever moving locations. The flow made the day feel relaxed and intentional rather than rushed. Their goal was to feel natural in their photos, which is always my focus. Once we started goofing around a bit, they relaxed into the moment, and that’s when the best images happen. A mix of candid, natural moments and a few fun editorial-style portraits gave them a gallery that felt both authentic and elevated. It usually just takes a few minutes to break the ice, and then everything falls into place.

The Maitland Art Center, part of the Art & History Museums of Maitland, is one of the most unique wedding venues in Central Florida. Founded in 1937 as an artist colony and now recognized as a National Historic Landmark, the venue’s Mayan-inspired architecture and secluded courtyards make it an incredible location for intimate weddings and elopements.

Frequently Asked Questions About Orlando Elopement Photography

What’s included in elopement photography?

My elopement package includes two hours of coverage, which is typically more than enough time to document your ceremony, portraits with friends and family, and intentional portraits of the two of you. The coverage is structured to feel relaxed rather than rushed. Logistically, it also allows time for movement between portrait locations on the property or even a short drive to a nearby spot if you’d like additional variety.

How soon do I get my images?

Turnaround is usually 2 weeks but previews are delivered the same week.

How Much Does an Orlando Elopement Photographer Cost?

$850 and only 25% to retain my services.

Who Is an Elopement Package Best For?

This elopement coverage is ideal for couples planning a wedding with under 25 guests who want something intimate and intentional. It’s perfect for those who value candid, natural photography and want their day documented in a way that feels relaxed rather than overly structured. If you’re skipping a traditional 8-hour wedding timeline and focusing on the moments that matter most, this approach allows you to keep things simple while still receiving meaningful, high-quality coverage.

How far in advance should I book an elopement photographer?

3 Months in advance is always best but I always welcome last minute inquiries.
